CMEP had a page on the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh website but needed a website of their own to establish their unique identity and market their commercial services. Their new website had to be usable for an international audience who had vastly different hardware and connection speeds.
CMEP chose us because of our user-centred approach to developing and testing websites and the information they provide.
We defined CMEP's business objectives and their operational constraints through a workshop. This enabled us to define a technical strategy that would deliver the most value over a three-year period.
Following a content audit and the production of content development guidelines we collaborated closely with CMEP on the information architecture of their new website. By developing wireframes CMEP were fully involved with the design process so when it came to signing-off on screen designs, only one round of revisions were required.
We then developed a highly customised back-end that supported all of their dynamic and static content publishing needs. Once the build was complete we undertook usability testing to ensure the needs of users were met irrespective of their connection speed.
The positive feedback CMEP have received since deploying their website confirms what a success this project was.
At the start of the project our main concern was that we had a very small budget for Border Crossing Media (BCM) to work with for producing a 'high-end' website. However we found that BCM were able to produce an extremely user friendly 'high-end' website within a tight budget and timeframe.
We valued most the process of defining and building the website from the user's point of view (particularly the workshop). Not only has this had a strong impact on our website, but in turn it has helped to define us more fully as a company. Even within the first 3 months we have already begun to notice the effect of having a high quality website!
Other benefits that we appreciated of working with BCM was the pragmatic, impartial, common sense advice which at all times considered what was best for our company and our customers.
We would definitely recommend Border Crossing Media's services as they provide a professional, tailor made service, which also happens to be excellent value for money!
