What they needed

Pufferfish's wiki-powered website was a quick fix when they were working on their proof-of-concept. Four years later, the business had grown but their online presence lacked the ability to support the product and brand in the way they wanted it to.

They came to us as they wanted guidance on developing their new website and identity. Mid-way through the project they received news that they were going to be featured in Wired Magazine UK. This meant we had to ensure that their new website was ready to capitalise on this exposure.

What we did

We produced a framework that guided Pufferfish through the content audit of their old website. We then consulted on their sketching and mock-up process and within a matter of weeks they had a revised site map and signed-off designs ready for coding.

Within a week we developed a highly customised CMS that simplified their publishing process by enforcing consistency for all dynamic content types. After a number of last minute additions and some usability enhancements we were ready for deployment. We also made sure an affordable short-term server scaling solution was in place. The result, not even a single user experienced an issue throughout this spike in traffic.

We consider this one of our most successful projects because Pufferfish finally have a website they are truly proud of.

How we did it

What people are saying

  • "Francois and Esther have been great to work with throughout the project, helping ensure that we achieved much more than a mere facelift for the site.

We had long harbored strong ideas about how our new site would look, but Border Crossing Media's guidance helped ensure that we were better able to balance the visual aesthetics with a clear information architecture and attention to usability. The process was an organic one with Border Crossing Media respecting the creative direction of the Pufferfish team whilst ensuring we didn't loose sight of the core aims of the project.

Francois and Esther were enthusiastic and friendly, but open and unafraid to be frank with us at all times. They delivered what they said they would when they said they would do it, and were instrumental in helping our internal team do the same.

The result was the quick, efficient completion of an enjoyable project which left us with the website we always wanted."
